The occupants stole a collection of Scythian gold from the Melitopol museum. An investigation has been launched

Russian occupants in temporarily occupied Melitopol stole Ukrainian historical and cultural valuables from the local history museum, including a collection of Scythian gold. On the fact of violation of the law and customs of war Zaporizhzhia regional prosecutor's office launched criminal proceedings.


This is reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.

 

According to the investigation, in April, the Russian military and representatives of the occupation administration stole from the Melitopol local history museum national valuables of Ukraine.

 

"According to preliminary data, among the stolen property was a collection of Scythian gold, which was discovered by archaeologists in the 50s of the last century", - said in a statement.

 

Now under the procedural guidance of the Zaporizhzhya regional prosecutor's office launched criminal proceedings on the fact of violation of laws and customs of war (part 1 of article 438 of the Criminal code of Ukraine).

 

Pre-trial investigation is carried out by investigators of the Zaporizhzhia department of the SBU.
