For the first time since his re-election, French President Emmanuel Macron will travel to Berlin for talks with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. The meeting will take place today at 6 p.m.
This was reported by the Elysee Palace.
According to sources at the Elysee Palace, the first visit shortly after the elections is proof of the importance of Franco-German relations, the DPA agency noted.
The war in Ukraine and European sovereignty, with a special focus on defense and energy supplies, will dominate the talks between the two leaders, the Elysee Palace said.
Other topics at the meeting include the countries' relations with the Balkan states and EU policy toward China.
