U.S. First Lady Jill Biden, accompanied by Romanian First Lady Carmen Johannis, visited a school in Bucharest on Saturday morning. There she talked to Ukrainian and Romanian teachers, Ukrainian mothers and children.

This is reported by CNN.

After her visit to the school, Biden spoke briefly with reporters before boarding the plane, discussing the emotional impact of her visit to the school and the bravery of the mothers she met.

"It was so emotional, wasn't it? I think the Ukrainians really know that we're with them. You see, these children have really suffered," Biden told reporters.

The U.S. first lady praised the Romanian government and aid organizations for the wide range of humanitarian services they provide to Ukrainian refugees.

Jill Biden's visit to Eastern Europe comes at a time when President Joe Biden is demanding that Congress allocate an additional $33 billion for security and economic aid to Ukraine.
