"Not by prayers alone": the commander of the Marines asked the Pope to help Mariupol

The commander of the 36th separate brigade of marines, Major Serhiy Volyna, wrote a letter to the Pope to help save people from Mariupol. This was reported by the Mariupol City Council.

"You have probably seen a lot in your life. But I'm sure you've never seen what's happening in Mariupol right now. Because this is what hell on earth looks like. I turn to you for help, for the time has come when prayers alone are not enough. Help save them. After the bombing of the Drama Theater, the maternity hospital, no one has any faith left in the Russian occupants. Give the world the truth, save people, and save their lives from the hands of Satan, who wants to burn everything alive!" - Serhiy Volyna wrote to the head of the Catholic Church.

The Pope during Easter Mass at the Vatican condemned the brutality of the war in Ukraine.
