Active phase of Russia's war against Ukraine will end in mid-May - Lithuanian Minister of Defense

Lithuanian Defense Minister Arvydas Anušauskas believes that the active phase of the war in Ukraine will end in May. He expressed this opinion in an interview with Gordon.

"You know, it is difficult to assess what will happen when the war is in full swing. But I think that the resources that the Russian Federation has in the war against Ukraine [are running out]... Yes, of course, it is possible to prolong the war. For example, if some line is stopped, there will be local battles, it can last quite a long time, but I think that the active phase of the war will end by mid-May. Because of the resources," Anušauskas assumed.

He stressed: despite the assurances of Russian propaganda, Russia has limited resources for active warfare.

"Passive ones can probably last for months... But the culmination of such, active actions, I think, will be in April, and they will end by the middle of May," the minister said.

He specified that by active military actions he means participation of armored troops, conducting offensive operations.

"This is what we especially saw in the first two weeks of the war. But because of losses, morale, sanctions, Russia's resources will run out sooner than we think," Anušauskas believes.

He suggested that military action in Ukraine might continue after May, but "in a more passive way."
