Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba called on the international community to urgently demand that Russia cease fire and allow the repair units to resume power supply at the Chernobyl NPP.
The minister wrote this on Twitter.
"The only power grid that feeds the Chernobyl NPP and all its nuclear facilities, which were seized by the Russian army, has been damaged. ChNPP has lost all electricity supply. I call on the international community to urgently demand that Russia cease fire and allow the repair units to resume power supply," the Ukrainian Foreign Minister said.
He noted that the reserve diesel generators are designed for 48 hours of operation of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. After that the cooling systems of the spent nuclear fuel storage will stop, making radiation leakage inevitable.
"Putin's barbaric war is endangering all of Europe. He must stop it immediately!" said Dmytro Kuleba.
On Wednesday, Russian occupiers left the Chernobyl nuclear power plant without power supply.
Fighting continues, making it impossible to repair work and restore power supply. The town of Slavutich is also de-energized.
Nuclear material monitoring systems at the Chernobyl plant have stopped transmitting data to the IAEA.
