Rockets that hit Vinnitsa were not launched from Transnistria - officially

The eight missiles that hit the civilian airport in Vinnytsia were not launched from Russian-occupied Transnistria, but from the Black Sea, and the information about the missile attack from the occupied part of Moldova is erroneous. This was stated by the Moldovan Ministry of Defense.

"The Moldovan Defense Ministry denies the launch of missiles that hit the Vinnitsa airport from Transnistrian territory to Ukrainian territory," the statement reads.

This information is also confirmed by sources in the Moldovan leadership who have studied information on the matter.

"There have never been any types of cruise missiles on Transnistrian territory. There are only Grad multiple-launch rocket launchers with a range of 20 kilometers in Transnistria," said one of the interlocutors.

The Moldovan representatives are convinced that the missiles were launched from Russian ships in the Black Sea. This corresponds to the range of the Iskander missiles in particular. However, the route of the Vinnitsa missile launch did run over Transnistria, a Moldovan territory that has been under Russian occupation since 1992.
