In Kazakhstan, which has been engulfed by protests, the force operations against the participants of mass actions continue. Meanwhile, access to wired Internet is being restored in the regions. This was reported by the Telegram channel of the portal vlast.kz.
The Interior Ministry of Kazakhstan reported that police officers in Almaty moved to mop up Karasai Batyr and Masanchi streets, detentions are underway and buildings are being repelled from protesters. The agency also noted that "there are no casualties among the terrorists and detainees". Almost 1,000 injured went to hospital, 378 were hospitalized, 62 people are in intensive care.
It is also reported that about 2,000 protesters have been detained so far.
State TV channels reported that security forces regained control of the akimats (executive agencies) of Zhambyl Region and Semey, the Aktobe airport, the office of the ruling Nur Otan party in Taraz and the Zhambyl Region police department.
Previously, these facilities were occupied by participants of mass protests.
As of January 6 ISP Kazakhtelecom switched on wired internet in all regions, except Almaty.
Kazakh authorities are preparing for the fact that the protests may spill over to the north of the country. In particular, there was information that groups of organized people are allegedly coming from the southern and western regions of Kazakhstan to the northern regions, in particular Kostanai, in order to "rock the protest". The day before, the authorities already blocked the traffic on inter-regional routes.
Let's note, mass protests in Kazakhstan since January 2 after the price of car gas has been raised twice from 60 to 120 tenge (about 7 hryvnia). Subsequently, protesters began to make political demands, riots and clashes with security forces began.
