Trump and his children were summoned to court

New York Attorney General Letitia James has summoned the children of former U.S. President Donald Trump to testify as part of an investigation into possible fraud in the Trump Organization, which he owns.

According to The New York Times, citing a source, Ivanka and Donald Trump Jr., who were heavily involved in the family business, received subpoenas back on December 1, 2021. The attorney general hopes to obtain evidence that the former U.S. leader's company may have intentionally misrepresented property to various organizations. Another Trump son, Eric, was questioned in the case in the fall of 2020.

It is clarified that James' investigation is civil in nature, so she cannot file criminal charges. If she finds evidence of wrongdoing, she can sue.

In March 2019, it was reported that New York Attorney General Letitia James issued subpoenas to two banks demanding documents about the Trump Organization's four major project financings and its failed 2014 purchase of the Buffalo Bills soccer team.
