U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris said the Biden administration would impose "unprecedented sanctions" against Russia in the event of a military invasion of Ukraine, Novoe Vremya reported.
"We are very clear that Russia must not violate Ukraine's sovereignty, that we must stand up - and we are standing up - for its territorial integrity. We are working with our allies on this, and we have been very clear that we are ready to impose sanctions never before seen," the politician said.
Harris also declined to answer a question about whether potential Western sanctions might affect Kremlin head Vladimir Putin personally.
"I'm not going to talk about specific sanctions, but we are explaining it to him and having direct conversations," Harris said.
