Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that Ankara can become a mediator between Ukraine and Russia. The Turkish side is interested in establishing peace in the region. This was reported by Hurriyet.

"Our position here is clear. We are for peace in the region, especially with regard to the Crimean Tatars. We have discussed these issues many times with friendly Russia, especially with Mr. Putin," Erdogan replied.

According to him, Turkey is interested in bringing peace to the region.

"There will be mediation on this, we will discuss this issue with them. We would like to participate in resolving this issue by developing these talks with both Ukraine and Mr. Putin," he added.
