Ombudsman asks for reconsideration of distance learning in schools

Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Lyudmila Denisova said that quarantine restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic should not affect the right of children to quality education. Therefore, she asked to reconsider the decision on distance learning in schools in Ukraine.

This was said by ombudsman Lyudmila Denisova on her page on Facebook.

Denisova stressed that she appealed to the Minister of Health of Ukraine and the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine. She asked them to reconsider their position on the transfer of educational institutions to distance learning.

According to Denisova, schools should be excluded from the list of institutions to be closed when introducing levels of anti-epidemic measures in regions of Ukraine.

It should be noted that as of November 11, 24,747 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Ukraine. Most infections in Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv regions.

But also in the past 24 hours, 652 people died from COVID-19 in the country.

We shall remind you that due to the grave situation with coronavirus in Kiev, junior classes will remain on distance learning for at least a week.
