Very soon the number of regions where the "red" level of epidemic danger due to COVID-19 is set to increase to 13, Health Minister Viktor Lyashko said at a briefing.
"At the next meeting of the TEB and ES the decision will be made to transfer to the "red" level of epidemic danger five more regions: Zhytomyr, Lugansk, Lviv, Khmelnytskyi and Chernihiv," the minister said.
According to Lyashko, on October 26 the "red" zone, which is already in effect in Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Odessa, Sumy and Kherson regions, was announced in Rivne and Mykolaiv regions.
For 37 days - roughly how long in the spring, when the epidemic wave raged, the region was in the "red" zone, according to Lyashko. So far, the number of hospitalized people is growing daily, which is very dangerous.
For example, in Donetsk and Zaporizhzhya regions, beds where there is a possibility of oxygen therapy are filled by 80%. Across the country, such beds are already 66% full.
Earlier we reported that the number of cases of coronavirus disease in Ukraine reached 2.8 million cases.
