Vsevolod Knyazev, Vladimir Pogrebniak and Oleg Tkachuk claim to be the new head of the Supreme Court. The election of the chairman will be held at the plenum on Friday, October 22. This is reported by RBC-Ukraine from the meeting of the plenum.
What is known about the candidates:
Vsevolod Knyazev is the secretary of the Grand Chamber of the Supreme Court. Prior to that, he worked in Nikolaev in the regional administrative court and was its chairman. He also taught and has a lawyer's certificate.
Vladimir Pogrebniak is a judge of the Court of Cassation. He was born in Kharkiv region, worked in the District Court of Izyum, and since 2012 – in the Supreme Economic Court.
Oleg Tkachuk is a judge of the Court of Cassation Civil Court of the Supreme Court. He was the head of the Council of Judges.
It is worth noting that the new head of the Supreme Court will take office on December 1 for a four-year term. However, some judges opposed the election of the Supreme Court head on October 22, as the current chairman, Valentina Danishevskaya, had not yet left office.
«It is not right to elect a new head «in advance,» said Judge Alexander Prokopenko. But the majority at the plenum (135 against 20) did not support such a position.
