Allowing Ukraine to strike at Russian territory with Western weapons could lead to “uncontrolled escalation”. This was stated by Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin, ANSA reports.

The Vatican Secretary of State believes that Ukraine's possible strikes on Russia with NATO weapons “should concern all those who care about the fate of our world.”

“This could cause an escalation that no one will be able to control. This is a very worrying prospect,” he added.

Parolin reminded that the Vatican helps Ukraine with the return of children to their homeland and other humanitarian issues, and “there is no other way.”
