Today, August 18, tripartite talks between the presidents of Ukraine and Turkey Volodymyr Zelenskiy and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, as well as UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres are taking place in Lviv.

 

According to the A Haber TV channel, bilateral talks between Zelenskiy and Erdogan began in Lviv at 2:40 p.m.

 

It is worth noting that, according to CNN Turk, during the meeting with Zelenskiy, Erdogan plans to assess aspects of Turkish-Ukrainian relations at the level of strategic partnership.

 

After the talks between the presidents, a tripartite meeting between Zelenskiy, Erdogan and Guterres is planned.

 

The Administration of the Turkish President stated that during the talks between Zelenskiy, Erdogan and Guterres, steps that can be taken to end the war in Ukraine through diplomatic means, as well as ways to strengthen the activity of the created mechanism for exporting Ukrainian grain to world markets, will be discussed.

 

In addition, the presidents of Ukraine and Turkey will hold a bilateral meeting during which they will "discuss all aspects of relations" between Ukraine and Turkey.

 

It should be noted that UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres arrived in Lviv on August 17. He managed to visit the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.

 

In turn, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy arrived in Lviv on Thursday morning. Before the meeting with Erdogan and Guterres, he visited Ukrainian defenders in a military hospital.

 

The last to arrive at the tripartite talks was the President of Turkey, who left Ankara on a private plane at 9 am on Thursday. He flew to Poland, where he held a small meeting with the governor of the Polish region, Radoslaw Wiatra, and the Turkish ambassador in Warsaw, Cengiz Kamil Firat. After that, the Turkish leader went to Lviv.

 

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskiy will receive Erdogan and Guterres at the Potocki Palace in the center of Lviv.

 

Erdogan, Zelenskiy and Guterres are expected to hold a joint press conference after the tripartite meeting.

 

 Turkish media, citing sources, reported that during the negotiations, the Turkish president may offer Volodymyr Zelenskiy to hold a meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. At the same time, Erdogan will allegedly insist on a temporary ceasefire in order to hold peace talks.
