The Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine called the events in Petropavlivska Borshchahivka unacceptable. According to him, law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances, and the government is preparing a further response.
According to Kyrylo Budanov, the events that unfolded in Petropavlivska Borshchahivka damage the unity of Ukrainians, especially under the conditions of the Russian threat.
As he noted, law enforcement officers and authorized bodies are investigating all the circumstances of the incident. They must establish the full picture of what happened, as well as identify those responsible and take measures to bring the perpetrators to justice.
According to Budanov, the government, along with the security sector, is already working on the necessary decisions to ensure an appropriate response to the events and help prevent potential provocations in the future.
In addition, the Head of the President's Office urged Ukrainians to be guided by the interests of the nation and the state when making decisions and resolving conflicts.
On the evening of November 2, local residents gathered near a private house in Petropavlivska Borshchahivka. Information spread online alleging that men who had left their military units without authorization were supposedly being held in the basement.
Later, the Commander of the National Guard of Ukraine, Oleksandr Pivnenko, confirmed that National Guard servicemen were inside the house. According to him, they were found after leaving their military unit without authorization.
Following the public outcry, an internal investigation was announced within the National Guard. The agency plans to bring the responsible individuals to justice.
Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets demands an investigation into the incident in Petropavlivska Borshchahivka and resolutely condemns any attacks on military personnel in the rear.
Meanwhile, the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) has initiated proceedings regarding yesterday's events under Part 5 of Article 426-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for the abuse of power or official authority by a military official.
