The former head of the Moldovan General Staff, Igor Gorgan, passed confidential information to Russian intelligence, including visits of representatives of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine to the country. This information was provided by the Moldovan presidential administration, citing data from The Insider portal.
According to The Insider, access to the correspondence between Gorgan and his supervisor from the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Colonel Alexei Makarov, was obtained.
Gorgan's cooperation with the Russian representative began in the spring of 2022, after the beginning of the occupation in Ukraine.
Gorgan passed on information about Ukraine's possible intentions to purchase six MiG-29 aircraft from Moldova, as well as about visits of representatives of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry to Moldova and fuel supplies through Romania.
He also focused on Moldova's internal political issues, in particular, on the speeches of President Maia Sandu.
