AFU refused to use American GLSDB bombs due to Russian electronic warfare, - media

American GLSDB precision-guided bombs developed for Ukraine became victims of Russian means of electronic warfare. Defense One writes about this with reference to the US Department of Defense.

Pentagon acquisition chief Bill LaPlante said that the Armed Forces are no longer interested in these weapons, although they actively used the bombs until February 2024.

The article notes that this is not the first Western GPS-guided weapon to be hit by Russian electronic warfare.

Thus, a Hudson Institute researcher said that the efficiency of the guidance system for the Excalibur missile "dropped from 70 to 6% efficiency within a few months when new electronic warfare mechanisms appeared in Ukraine."

The publication writes that the Russians have saturated the frontline with electronic warfare equipment. They have deployed trucks with electronic warfare systems every 10 km along the front line.

The Pentagon believes that Ukraine can use other American munitions that are not affected by GPS replacement, such as Harpoon missiles. Another solution could be to launch JDAMs from F-16s, which can transmit navigation data to munitions.
