The ground part of the group of Russian troops located on the territory of Ukraine now amounts to about 470,000 servicemen. This was reported by Vadym Skibitskyi, a representative of the GUR, in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

"If we talk about what has changed during this time, it is the number of the group deployed on our territory. Now the land component, the land part of the grouping located on the territory of Ukraine, is about 470 thousand soldiers. And this is only the ground component, I do not include aviation, we do not count the navy, which is also involved in operations, in strikes," the military said.

Skibitskyi also said that a new component of Russian troops has appeared in the occupied territories - a group of Russian Guard has been deployed. About 33 thousand servicemen.

"These are the people who ensure the activities of the occupation authorities, the protection of strategic facilities and, if necessary, can perform defense tasks in the temporarily occupied territories," said Skibitskyi.

In addition, a group of so-called cover soldiers has been created to protect the state border of the Russian Federation. They are deployed in three regions of Russia that directly border Ukraine: Belgorod, Kursk, and Bryansk (about 30,000 soldiers).

The major general noted that this is due to the Russians' fear that "we will be more active, we will carry out appropriate actions on the territory of the Russian Federation."

Skibitskyi also noted that an important change over the past two years is the isolation of the Black Sea Fleet, and that all the enemy's main warships are in Novorossiysk.
