Canada will provide the Ukrainian Armed Forces with more than 800 SkyRanger R70 multi-purpose unmanned aerial vehicles. This was stated by Canadian Defense Minister Bill Blair, Reuters reports.

"Today's announcement ensures that Ukraine will receive the drones it needs to detect and identify targets that are critical to Ukraine's ongoing fight. Canada will support Ukraine as long as necessary," the minister said.

The cost of the drones, which will be supplied by Waterloo, Canada-based Teledyne, is more than C$95 million (US$70.44 million), the ministry said, adding that the assistance is funded by C$500 million in military aid announced by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau during his visit to Kyiv in 2023.

Characteristics of the drones:

  • weight - 5 kg;
  • can carry cameras and ammunition drop systems;
  • can be transported unassembled and assembled very quickly;
