Today, the newly appointed commander was presented to the personnel of the Joint Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Lieutenant General Yuriy Sodol took up this position. This was reported by the Joint Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook.
This personnel change took place on February 11, when President Volodymyr Zelensky appointed Yuriy Sodol to the position of commander. Prior to that, Sodol served as the commander of the Naval Infantry of the Ukrainian Navy.
Yuriy Sodol was born on December 26, 1970, in Chuhuiv, Kharkiv region, into a military family. He has a high military education, having graduated from the Sumy Higher Artillery Command School and the National Defense Academy of Ukraine.
Sodol took an active part in the hostilities against Russia, leading military operations in the hottest spots of the front, including the defense of the Donetsk airport and the counteroffensive in the Volnovakha district, for which he was awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine in February 2022.
In 2023, he headed the operational and tactical group in Donetsk in the Vuhledar direction.
