Russian troops have recently advanced near Avdiivka and south of Donetsk. This is stated in a review by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

It emphasizes that geolocated footage released on February 7 shows that Russian forces have made some small advances in eastern Stepove (northwest of Avdiivka), although probably not during the last day.

The review claims that positional fighting continued northwest of Avdiivka in the area of Novobakhmutivka and Berdychiv and towards Ocheretyne, on the outskirts of Avdiivka itself, south of Avdiivka in the area of Opytne, west of Avdiivka towards Lastivchyne and southwest of Avdiivka in the area of Nevelske and Pervomayske.

In addition, according to ISW, Russian troops have recently moved forward south of Donetsk.

"Geolocated footage published on February 8 shows that Russian units of the 155th Marine Brigade have recently advanced into eastern Novomykhailivka," the review says.
