Hungary is open to using the EU budget to help Ukraine - Orban's adviser

Hungarian Prime Minister Balázs Orban's political director confirmed before an emergency summit on Thursday that Budapest is ready for a compromise that would allow the EU to finance the package of aid to Ukraine from the bloc's budget. This was reported by Reuters.

It is noted that Balázs Orban said on Monday that Hungary is ready to use the EU budget for the proposed 50 billion euros aid package to Ukraine, which Reuters calls "a major change in Budapest's position compared to just a few weeks ago.

"According to Orban's adviser, on Saturday Budapest sent a proposal to Brussels indicating its readiness to use the EU budget to provide an aid package to Ukraine and to issue joint EU debt to finance it, if other "cautions" are added.
