On northern borders of Ukraine, Russia keeps a group of 20 thousand servicemen - Nayev

As of Friday, January 19, the situation in the Northern Operational Zone remains under control. At the same time, the enemy has created and maintains a group of about 20 thousand people on the territory of the Russian Federation, said the Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhiy Nayev.

"The enemy units are constantly conducting reconnaissance, shelling border areas, actively building up engineering and fortification equipment in the area. Measures are being taken to rearm units with new or modernized weapons," Nayev wrote in his telegram channel.

In turn, Belarus has deployed about 1,800 people from its armed forces along the border to strengthen the border, in addition to border guard units. The military and law enforcement units are conducting combat training, building up the surveillance system and engineering and fortification equipment along the border.

"As part of the creation of the so-called "Union State", the military and political leadership of Belarus continues to provide all possible assistance to the Russian Federation in its armed aggression against our country by supplying and repairing weapons and military equipment. The enterprises of the military-industrial complex of Belarus produce new and recycle outdated ammunition with their subsequent transfer in the interests of the Russian armed forces," Nayev added.
