"Secret briefing" of US senators on aid to Ukraine failed

A "secret briefing" for senators, initiated by Democrats, which was supposed to convince lawmakers of the importance of agreeing on new aid for Kyiv as soon as possible, failed: Republicans did not even want to listen. This was reported by ABC News.

"The Republicans simply walked out of the briefing because the people there were not ready to discuss what was needed to make a deal. There was no reason to sit and listen to people talk about the importance of helping Israel and Ukraine. We know that and we agree with that," said Republican Senator Mitt Romney.

The stumbling block remains the administration's reluctance to include funding for border security in the request for funds for Kyiv and Israel.

According to ABC News, Senate Republican Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said that he would advocate for Republican senators to vote against additional aid to Ukraine and Israel "to make it clear, hopefully for the last time, that we insist on meaningful changes at the border."
