The spokesman of the Defense Forces of the Tavria region, Valery Shershen, said that success in the offensive in the south is not only about moving forward. He announced this on the air of the national telethon.
According to him, in the direction of Melitopol and Berdyansk, the Russians are conducting an active defense and are making "colossal efforts" to prevent the advance of the strike units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"They are shelling the entire front line, hitting populated areas as well. In response, we are destroying the enemy further. We are reducing his combat potential and support as much as possible," said Shershen.
He noted that rocket launchers and gunners completed 1,247 fire missions per day — the enemy lost 56 people killed, 135 wounded, and one occupier was captured. 28 units of weapons and equipment were destroyed.
"We are entrenching, demining, conducting aerial reconnaissance, counter-battery combat. There is a readiness to continue the offensive. Success is not only advancing, but also creating favorable conditions, as the main thing is saving lives and destroying the enemy's potential," summed up the spokesman of the Armed Forces.
Yesterday, the General Staff reported that the Armed Forces repulsed the attacks of the Russian Federation near Bakhmut and are advancing to the south and north of the city.
Also, General Tarnavskyi informed that the Defense Forces continue to move forward and liberate Ukrainian territories in the Tavria direction, having destroyed 47 units of enemy equipment in a day.
According to military analyst Colonel Chernyk, the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will take place according to the scenario of the operation to liberate Kherson, without "lightning".
