The President of Estonia Alar Karis considers it unlikely that the Kremlin will not use nuclear weapons against the background of failures in Ukraine, but predicts that the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin will play with this topic again and it is better to be prepared for the worst scenarios.

He said this in an interview with Newsweek.

Karis noted that he considers the realization of Russia's nuclear threats unlikely, but he would not rule out that this could potentially happen if Putin feels that he is in an extremely hopeless situation.

"This means that we need to be ready, at least to think about what we will do in such a case," the Estonian president said.

He noted that from a medical point of view, Putin is clearly not crazy and understands well what he is doing.

"If Russia is really desperate, then I wouldn't say that by accident, but quite deliberately, they can push a button. But it's not that simple. It's not like you have a button that you can just go up to and push - there is a certain procedure," said Alar Karis.
