Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Melnyk will become ambassador to Brazil, reports BILD.
As BILD journalist Paul Ronzheimer reports with reference to a source in government circles, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, plans to work on improving relations with Brazil and wants Melnyk to take up the post of Ukraine's ambassador to the country.
The diplomat himself, in response to a request, did not comment on a possible appointment to a new position.
During his work as ambassador to Germany, Melnyk repeatedly made loud statements in favor of arms supplies to Kyiv and often criticized German politicians.
In October last year, he was recalled from the post of ambassador and appointed deputy minister of foreign affairs.
