The Commander of the National Armed Forces of the Republic of Latvia, Lieutenant General Leonids Kalniņš, paid an official visit to Ukraine.
This was announced by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhnyi.
According to the Commander-in-Chief, this is Kalnynsh's first official visit to Ukraine. At the meeting with them, Zaluzhny spoke about the current situation at the front.
"He stressed the importance of strengthening the air defense system of our country, the supply of shells and weapons. We agreed to continue dialogue and cooperation to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities," Zaluzhnyi said.
He thanked General Kalninš and the entire Latvian people for their solidarity and support.
It will be recalled that the amount of aid that Latvia transferred to Ukraine during the full-scale war has already reached 1% of the country's GDP.
In one of the latest packages of military support, Latvia announced the provision of Stinger air defense systems, helicopters, machine guns with ammunition and drones to Ukraine.
