The five G7 countries agreed to "displace" Russia from the international nuclear fuel market

At the G7 forum on nuclear energy in Japan the day before, the creation of an alliance between Great Britain, the United States, Canada, Japan and France was announced, "aimed at ousting Putin from the international nuclear energy market," according to a statement on the British government's website.

As stated, "the five countries will use the respective resources and capabilities of each country's civilian nuclear energy sectors to undermine Russia's control over supply chains."

The agreement will reportedly "maintain a stable supply of fuel for today's needs and ensure the safe and reliable development and deployment of fuel for tomorrow's promising reactors."

"This agreement will be used as a basis to completely push Putin out of the nuclear fuel market, and to do so as soon as possible, to cut off another way for him to finance his barbaric attack on Ukraine and effectively leave Russia out," the statement said.

Ukraine previously called on the EU to include the Russian state nuclear power company Rosatom under sanctions.

The government of Germany, one of the G7 countries, advocated sanctions against Russia's nuclear industry.
