Turkey suddenly stopped the transit to Russia of goods subject to EU and US sanctions.
This is reported by Bloomberg.
As the newspaper reports, the government ordered to stop the transit of sanctioned goods through Turkey from March 1. This decision is related to the expansion of EU sanctions against Russia.
"The cargo clearance system in Turkey simply stopped working," said Kateryna Lazutkina, co-owner of a Moscow-based delivery, customs and general cargo transportation company that operates through Turkey.
According to her, the customs system is currently blocking goods bound for Russia. Sanctioned cargo is stuck at customs, and market representatives are urgently looking for alternative routes.
It will be recalled that on February 25, the European Union approved a new tenth package of sanctions against Russia. It included 121 individuals and legal entities, trade and propaganda mass media.
