For the first time, Seoul approved the supply of Krab howitzers with South Korean components to Ukraine from Poland. This is reported by Reuters.
Polish howitzers are manufactured by Huta Stalowa Wola. It signed a contract for the production of South Korean chassis in Poland with Samsung Techwin in 2014.
Warsaw announced the supply of Krab for the Ukrainian army last May. South Korea did not officially confirm at the time that it had given its permission to re-export weapons with their components.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that relations between Moscow and Seoul would be destroyed if South Korea sent weapons to Kyiv. In response, South Korean President Yoon Seok-yeol said that Seoul provides only humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
A representative of South Korea's defense procurement program emphasized in a conversation with Reuters that the government, as before, does not transfer weapons directly to Ukraine.
