Deputy Minister of National Defense Wojciech Skurkiewicz explained the strengthening of the country's defense potential with the desire to prevent war crimes like those that took place on the territory of Ukraine occupied by Russia.
Skurkevych said this on the air of "Polish Radio".
"We do not agree that eastern Poland should share the fate of Buch or Kherson, that the enemy should enter the territory of the Republic of Poland and exterminate the population, kill innocent people. We will defend the Republic of Poland, if necessary, from the first centimeters of our land, on our very the border," the government official emphasized.
The Deputy Minister of Defense of Poland also recalled the creation of the 1st Infantry Division of the Legions, which will be deployed in the north-east of Poland to ensure the security of the Suwalski Isthmus.
In addition, another division will be created south of Warsaw, which will cover Lublin and Podkarpackie Voivodeships.
It will be recalled that in January Skurkiewicz and Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said that Warsaw would change the concept of defense against aggression from the east after the conclusions drawn from the actions of the Russian army in Ukraine.
