NATO on the decision of the Russian Federation regarding the nuclear treaty: the architecture of arms control has been destroyed

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg called on Russia to reconsider its decision to suspend its participation in the treaty with the US on strategic offensive weapons (SNO).

He stated this during a press conference in Brussels with the participation of the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba and the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security Josep Borrell.

"I regret today's decision by Russia to suspend its participation in the New START treaty," Stoltenberg said.

He reminded that in recent years, Russia has violated key arms control agreements.

"With today's decision under the treaty on SNO, the entire architecture of arms control has been destroyed. I strongly urge Russia to reconsider its decision and respect the existing agreements," Stoltenberg stressed.
