British intelligence suggests that since the beginning of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, the Russian army and the "Wagner" group could have lost up to 200,000 people, of which up to 60,000 were killed.
As "European Truth" reports, this is stated in the daily review of the Ministry of Defense of Great Britain about the war in Ukraine.
"The forces of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and the People's Army of Ukraine most likely lost 175-200 thousand people since the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine, which probably includes about 40-60 thousand killed," - it is noted.
Losses began to increase significantly after September 2022, when the Kremlin announced "partial mobilization".
British intelligence points out that by modern standards of warfare, Russian forces have a very high casualty rate, if you take the ratio between the wounded, who subsequently survived and died. This is associated with a low level of medical training and support in most units. The enemy's artillery is the cause of the greatest losses among personnel.
"The forces of the "Wagner" PMC involved a large number of recruited prisoners. Among them, losses may amount to 50% of the composition," the review notes.
Similar numbers - up to 200,000 killed and wounded - were cited in an article by The New York Times, citing unofficial estimates by Western officials.
