Ex-Prime Minister of Italy Silvio Berlusconi, after the accusations against the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi, suddenly started talking about "supporting the Ukrainian people".
This was reported by Berlusconi's Instagram post.
"Let's look at the facts. We have always supported the Ukrainian people, we have always voted in Italy and in Europe without hesitation and supported Ukraine by sending funding and weapons. I have always been and am on the side of the Ukrainian people and peace," Berlusconi wrote.
He also said that he expects a diplomatic solution to "this very dangerous war for all of us."
"I simply proposed the great "Marshall plan" of the West for the reconstruction of Ukraine as a possible diplomatic way to end this conflict, which, I want to repeat, is very dangerous for all of us," Berlusconi concluded.
What happened
It will be recalled that before this, the former Prime Minister of Italy Silvio Berlusconi criticized the current Prime Minister of the country, Georgia Meloni, for her meeting with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyі, on the sidelines of the EU summit in Brussels.
As Berlusconi stated, if he had remained prime minister, he would not have met with the Ukrainian leader. In addition, he added that if Zelenskyі had stopped allegedly "attacking" Donbas, there would have been no Russian invasion.
Ukraine has already responded to his statement. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that such statements by Berlusconi indicate that he is trying to kiss the bloody hands of the head of the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin, just as he did with Gaddafi.
