Over the past six weeks, there has been a clear transition of Russian ground forces to a long-term defensive position in most areas of the front line in Ukraine.
The British Ministry of Defense reported this on Twitter.
As noted in the summary, this is probably due to a more realistic assessment that the severely undermanned, poorly trained forces in Ukraine are currently only capable of defensive operations.
According to British intelligence, even if Russia manages to strengthen long-term defensive lines, its operational scheme will remain vulnerable.
"In order to regain the initiative, it will need to restore more high-quality, mobile forces capable of dynamically resisting Ukrainian breakthroughs and conducting its own large-scale offensive operations," the message reads.
The British Ministry of Defense reported that Russia has probably reinforced some of its units west of the Dnieper mobilized due to extremely low manning levels. In September 2022, Russian officers reported that some companies in the Kherson direction consisted of six to eight people instead of the norm of 100 people.
We will remind, according to British intelligence, in the last three months, the Russian army was able to capture only two Ukrainian villages.
