Russian troops are unlikely to try to conduct street battles for Kherson, as they risk being caught in the middle of full control of the bridges across the Dnipro by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Oleksiy Reznikov, in an interview with the Fox News channel.
To be honest, I don't believe that the Russians will be able to fight in the streets. Because it is useless for them. We control all bridges on the Dnipro River using HIMARS and other artillery. And it is risky for them to stay in Kherson, because they will not be able to later. escape, as they did in the Kharkiv direction, in Izyum and other cities. It is very risky for them to end up in a cauldron, I think they will run away," the minister said.
Reznikov added that the war in Ukraine is currently in its third phase. The first phase was to stop the advance of Russian troops, the second was focused on stabilizing the front line, and the third was to liberate the captured territories, the head of the Ministry of Defense specified.
At the same time, Reznikov admitted that currently the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has slowed down. According to him. this happened due to weather conditions, in particular, rain, however, Ukrainian defenders will continue to liberate the territory "village by village and step by step".
