International sanctions have created a shortage in Russia of microelectronics necessary for its military-industrial complex. This was stated by US Deputy Treasury Secretary Wally Adeyemo on October 14 at a meeting of countries imposing economic restrictions on Russia.
Adeyem noted that Russia cannot access advanced technology and Western financial systems, which hampers the ability of the Russian defense industry to produce weapons and replace those destroyed during the war.
"Russia is running out of microelectronics, which is critical to its military-industrial complex, and Russian officials are concerned that they are running out of foreign components. Russia's two largest domestic microelectronics manufacturers have had to temporarily halt production due to a lack of critical foreign technology," he said. Goodbye
He added that the U.S. continues to act, which is why the Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control is issuing guidance explaining that the U.S. can impose sanctions on people, companies or countries that supply Russia with munitions or support the Russian military-industrial complex.
