The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, stated the need to be prepared for an unexpected disruption in the supply of energy resources and to better protect the infrastructure after the incidents on the Nord Stream branches. Her words in a speech in the European Parliament are quoted by РАР.
"Submarine pipelines and cables connect Europeans and European companies to the world. They are the lifelines for information and electricity. The best protection of this critical infrastructure is for the benefit of all Europeans. We must carry out stress tests, identify vulnerabilities and have emergency response plan," she stressed, noting that the European Commission is starting a dialogue with member states for such work.
Ursula von der Leyen added that the EU will strengthen cooperation with NATO and the USA for this purpose.
