The European Commission will pay 5 billion euros in aid to Ukraine by the end of the year

The European Commission promises to pay Ukraine a 5 billion euro tranche of macro-financial assistance as soon as possible, said the Executive Deputy Chairman of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis.

"Yesterday, I signed a memorandum of understanding with Ukraine on the next macro-financial assistance in the amount of 5 billion euros. We will pay the first part - 2 billion euros - by mid-October," Dombrovskis said on Tuesday at a press conference in Luxembourg following the meeting of the EU Council with issues of economy and finance.

"We want to act as soon as possible with the payment of the balance in two installments in November and December, subject to compliance with all relevant conditions," said the deputy head of the EC.
