Russia may attack Kyiv again — Zaluzhniy

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhniy believes that Russia's war against Ukraine will continue in 2023. This is stated in his article on Ukrinform, which he co-authored with the First Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, General Mykhailo Zabrodskyi.

The article emphasizes that today's war does not fit into the framework of either the blitzkrieg planned by the Russians or other wars in the 21st century. In any case, the generals believe, there is every reason to believe that the Russian Federation's war against Ukraine will continue in 2023.

Next, the military commanders describe the directions of the enemy's possible offensives in the future, they state that the Russians have "certain operational prospects" in the Izyum and Bakhmut areas, and the ultimate goal of such actions may be the complete occupation of the Donetsk region.

More "attractive" for the occupiers could be an advance in the Zaporizhzhya direction, which poses a threat to capture Zaporizhzhya and the Dnipro, which will lead to Ukraine losing control over a large part of the left bank.

Also, the possibility of returning to the plan to capture Kyiv and the threat of a second attack from the territory of Belarus cannot be ruled out.

However, the greatest opportunity for the Russians is to advance in the south from the bridgehead on the right bank of the Dnipro in the Kherson region, since success in the southern Buz direction can have a double effect - the Russians will have real prospects for capturing Mykolayiv and Odesa, as well as creating a threat towards Kryviy Rih and further - central and western regions of Ukraine.
