The threat of strikes and new restrictions: how Ukraine is preparing for Independence Day

Independence Day 2022 in Ukraine will be held without celebrations and with additional restrictions in a number of regions. The reason is the full-scale war unleashed by Russia and the threat of missile strikes by the occupier.

 Kyiv

There is no information about changing the curfew on Independence Day. However, some restrictions are still introduced. In particular, mass events are prohibited in the capital. In addition, Government Quarters employees are being asked to work remotely this week.

In addition, on public holidays, the Kyiv metro reduces work. Yes, from August 21 to 24, the subway will operate from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

 Kharkiv

In Kharkiv and the region, starting from August 22, the curfew time will be changed, it will start at 19:00 and will last until 7 in the morning the next day. In addition, a long curfew was announced on Independence Day - from 7:00 p.m. on August 23 to 7:00 a.m. on August 25.

It is forbidden to be outside during the specified time.

 Mykolayiv

Mykolaiv is not planned to be closed for the holidays, but some restrictions will still be introduced. As reported by the head of the RMA Vitaliy Kim, an order on remote work is being prepared these days.

"We do not hold events where there will be a mass gathering of people, please do not gather," he added.

 Chernihiv

The head of Chernihiv RMA Vyacheslav Chaus said the day before that there are no plans to introduce additional measures to limit entry or exit from Chernihiv at the moment.

 Dnipro

There are no plans to introduce a curfew on Independence Day in Dnipro yet. Previously, information about restrictions appeared on the network, but RMA refutes it.

 Missile strikes are possible

In one of his recent video messages, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy stated that "this week, Russia may try to do something particularly nasty, something particularly cruel."

In addition, the occupiers announced the trial of "Azovstal" defenders in Mariupol on August 24. The head of state warned that if this pseudo-trial takes place, there can no longer be any talks with Russia.

Mykhailo Podolyak, adviser to the head of the President's Office, does not rule out that on August 23 and 24, the occupiers may increase the number of cruise missile attacks on a number of our cities. According to him, Kyiv, in particular, is at risk.

 Ministry of Internal Affairs

Earlier, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Yevhen Yenin, speaking about a possible threat on Independence Day, said that Ukrainians should be prepared for various scenarios. At the same time, he noted that no storming of Kyiv or the advance of the Russians is foreseen for this day.

In addition, the Ministry of Internal Affairs urges Ukrainians to respond to alarm signals and to plan travel routes so that there are always shelters nearby.
