On the anniversary of Nazi Germany's attack on the USSR, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that the current German policy and "Russophobic hysteria" jeopardize the achievement of reconciliation after World War II. The Russian Foreign Ministry issued such a statement on June 22.
"By word and deed, official Berlin jeopardizes the results of decades-long efforts by Russia and Germany to overcome enmity, hostility and mistrust between the peoples of our countries," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
The Russian diplomatic service stated that there was allegedly "a wave of unmotivated aggression against Russia and Russian-speaking residents of Germany on the verge of mass psychosis," which is the result of "years of propaganda campaign" in the German information space and "systematically heated up by attacks".
Germany was rebuked for the course announced after the Russian invasion of Ukraine to strengthen the army, the presence of its military near Russia's western borders as part of the NATO contingent and the decision to help Ukraine with weapons, noting that when footage of this destroyed equipment appears, it will provoke "understandable historical parallels" in both societies.
"All this is fraught with another stage of deep alienation between Russians and Germans," the Russian Foreign Ministry lamented.
