Severodonetsk is the hottest point along the entire front line, the Russian Federation has significantly increased the number of personnel there, Ukrainian Defense Ministry spokesman Oleksandr Motuzyanik said.

"As of today, the city of Severodonetsk is the hottest point along the entire front line. Because the enemy spares neither strength, nor equipment, nor people - it throws more and more units, has significantly increased the number of its personnel there and is trying to take full control of Severodonetsk, in recent weeks there has already been active fighting in the streets of this city," said Motuzyanik at a briefing at the Ukraine Media Center on Wednesday.

He stressed that the situation is very dynamic, some quarters of the city can change hands.

"The city is holding on, the Armed Forces of Ukraine successfully counterattack in some areas when we see that there are positive circumstances to conduct a counterattack," Motuzyanik said.

According to him, the enemy destroys the city with artillery and air strikes.

"It is absolutely clear that the Russian leadership demands such victories from the Russian military, so they are trying in any way, despite the losses, to take control of Severodonetsk, in the future - will try to surround Lisichansk, trying to cut the logistics route Bakhmut - Lisichansk," - said the speaker Motuzyanik.
