Because of the bombardment by Russian invaders of Azovstal Iron and Steel Works, there is a threat of complete extinction of the Sea of Azov due to possible damage to the technical structure holding back the concentrated hydrogen sulfide solution. About this informed the Mariupol city council.
"There is a threat of complete extinction of the Sea of Azov. Bombing of Azovstal could damage the technical structure holding back tens of thousands of tons of concentrated hydrogen sulfide solution. The leakage of this liquid will completely kill the flora and fauna of the Sea of Azov," reads the statement.
It is noted that further dangerous substances can get into the Black and Mediterranean seas. Mayor of Mariupol Vadym Boychenko stressed that international experts and the UN need to be immediately admitted to the site to study the situation and prevent a global environmental disaster.
