Military de-blockade of Azovstal may lead to significant losses - AFU General Staff

It is difficult to unblock the defense forces at the Azovstal plant in Mariupol by military means, it could lead to significant losses of the Ukrainian military. This was reported by Brigadier General, Deputy Chief of the Main Operative Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksiy Gromov.

"The blockade and fire influence on our units in the area of the Azovstal metallurgical plant in Mariupol continues. Communication with the units of the defense forces that are heroically holding their positions is maintained," Gromov said.

Gromov noted that the military de-blockade to date requires considerable effort.

"As of today, carrying out a deblocking operation will require considerable effort, a significant number of troops, since the AFU units are 150 to 200 km away from Mariupol. Also, the enemy has created an extensive system of engineering barriers and defensive lines, which will lead to significant losses on the part of our troops." ," Gromov said.
