Ukraine demands urgent humanitarian corridor from Azovstal, the world community also supports our country's call

Ukraine demands that Russia open an urgent humanitarian corridor from Azovstal in Mariupol. There are about a thousand civilians and 500 wounded soldiers there.

This was reported in Telegram by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Reintegration Irina Vereshchuk.

"We demand from the Russians an urgent humanitarian corridor from the Mariupol plant Azovstal! There are about 1,000 civilians and 500 wounded military there now. We need to get them all out of Azovstal today!" - stated Vereshchuk.

In turn, she urged world leaders and the international community to focus their efforts on Azovstal right now.

"Now it is a key point and a key moment for humanitarian efforts!!!" - emphasized Vereshchuk.

The Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe also insists on the need to save the civilians of Mariupol.

"As the fighting around the besieged steel plant in the devastated city of Mariupol intensifies, there is growing uncertainty and concern about the lives and human rights of those still remaining in the besieged areas.

Many civilians, including women, children, and the elderly, reportedly remain trapped in areas of Mariupol besieged by Russian forces. For many weeks they have been surviving in horrific conditions and with meager supplies. They should immediately be provided with humanitarian corridors so that they can be evacuated to safety. It should be recalled that international humanitarian law must be respected in all circumstances, also with regard to captive soldiers and surrendees as well as the wounded and sick. They must be treated humanely and with respect for their dignity and fundamental human rights," the page of the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights noted.

As a reminder, the Deputy Prime Minister reported that the Ukrainian side today will continue the evacuation from Mariupol. Buses in the direction of the controlled territory will depart in the afternoon.

We note that the Kafirs have bombed Azovstal in Mariupol, where Ukrainian military and civilians are located, for the fifth consecutive day.
