Johnson insists on handing over missiles to AFU: sinking Russian warships - Daily Mail

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson allegedly insists in the country's government that Ukraine must be given anti-ship missiles (SCMs) to defend Odesa against aggression by ships of the Russian occupant country. This was reported by The Times, citing a "high-ranking government source.

According to the newspaper's interlocutor, Johnson told his Cabinet on April 2 that he wanted to arm the Ukrainian Navy with PKRs as successfully as the official London had previously equipped the AFU Ground Forces with NLAW anti-tank systems.

The newspaper writes that President Volodymyr Zelensky previously requested from the West PKMs, including Harpoon, which are in service with the British Navy.

The source said: "The war is not over yet... Now they [the Russians] are concentrating in the south. The next target is Odesa. It will not be tanks that will come to Odesa. It will be ships. The NLAW don't work against ships, so what do they want? They need things that can destroy ships. The Prime Minister is eager and determined to help find these [weapons for the AFU]. We don't have everything they need for the next phase [of defense], but we have become coordinators for other countries."

The publication writes that the British army may hand over SwitchBlades kamikaze strike drones to the AFU.

Last night, April 2, Johnson spoke to the Ukrainian president again. A Downing Street spokeswoman said he "congratulated the brave AFU for successfully repelling the Russian army's invasion in a number of areas, but acknowledged the huge problems that remain and the enormous suffering inflicted on civilians."

The country's prime minister also "pledged to continue to increase defensive support."
